TON Wallet Launches in US, Bringing Crypto Features to Telegram Users

Telegram users in the US have gained access to the TON Wallet, a crypto wallet built into the app.

This information was confirmed by the TON Foundation.

The TON Wallet is a non-custodial crypto wallet developed by The Open Platform (TOP) on The Open Network (TON) blockchain in 2023. With this US launch, local users will be able to send, receive, and store crypto assets directly in the messenger.

According to a release obtained by CNBC , this is the first such move in the US market.

TOP had planned the expansion for some time but was unable to proceed earlier due to regulatory restrictions.

Access to the TON Wallet will also allow users to interact with the broader Open Network ecosystem through mini-apps.

Andrew Rogozov, CEO of TOP, told CNBC that the goal of this solution, as well as the company's mission as a whole, is to simplify and democratize access to crypto assets.

”You don't need to download a wallet or remember a seed phrase.

That's how we simplify everything,” he noted.

TON Wallet also allows users to restore access if they lose their key.

Part of the seed phrase is linked to the user's Telegram account, and the other part is linked to their email, Rogozov noted.

Deposits and withdrawals are handled through intermediaries, most notably MoonPay.

TON Wallet can also offer built-in financial products, including staking..
